VisitBritain National Quality Assessment Scheme - accommodation

VisitBritain develops the accommodation schemes, sets the standards, champions the ratings and promotes only quality-assessed accommodation in the enjoyEngland campaigns and all VisitBritain international marketing activities.

Local, regional and destination partners support the quality agenda by promoting quality-assessed accommodation in publications, websites and in Tourism Information Centres.

Quality in Tourism has been awarded one of the contracts to carry out quality assessments on behalf of VisitBritain.


Visitor Attraction Quality Assurance Service (VAQAS)

Launched in 2001 VAQAS is a consumer focused quality assessment service for visitor attractions. It helps to identify strengths of an attraction and highlights development areas, based on industry examples. A wide range of attractions of all sizes, both large and small, throughout England have benefited from participation in the service. For more information visit www.vaqas.org.uk

Quality Awareness Days for Visitor Attractions
Quality Awareness Days (QADs) are a one-day, practical workshop developed and operated by the Visitor Attraction Quality Awareness Service (VAQAS) to enhance quality and spread best practice through the industry. The day is designed for operators, managers and owners of all types of visitor attractions. The session provides an opportunity to analyse each stage of the visitor journey making recommendations for quality improvements. The session will also offer an insight into how the VAQAS quality-grading scheme is assessed with comparisons drawn from all sectors of the industry. Participants will receive a:

- Guide to Best Practice – a practical guide providing examples of best practice from all sectors on the attractions industry

- Self-Assessment Toolkit – a practical aid to plan quality development at your attraction.
